Loudyn Mikel Kelly is a testament that kids can truely prevail at a young age despite the medical problems he has overcome in his young life.  Please follow us as we take this journey thru one of his biggest surgery's to date.  We LOVE everyone that has given us strength, emotional support or just there asking how we are all doing throughout the last 5 yrs.

~WE LOVE YOU ALL~

Mikel, Amber, Thomas & Loudyn

Loudyn was born 5/10/2007 & from about 11mths we have been on quite a medical journey with our guy! He was diagnosed with the following "conditions"...Hemimegencephaly, Epilepsy, Legally Blind in both eyes & a skin condition called Linear Nevus Sebaceous Syndrome. I know, I know it's a lot of confusing words I have listed!! In the last year we have noticed a lump in between his eyes that seems to be growing at a rapid pace, he also has some pretty sizable lumps on the left side of his head, these don't worry us as much as the one between his eyes because it's seems pretty aggressive at growing. We have been meeting with a neurological & cranial/plastic surgeon at Gillette/U of M Hospitals in St. Paul, MN. We have all come to an agreement that these have to be treated. They are linking these to his skin condition, this condition puts Loudyn in a 20% higher risk of developing certain types as cancers & bony tumors on his body. They do not know if he has bony tumors or another condition called Fibrous Dysplasia & there is really no test to confirm this other than surgery.  Loudyn's surgery has been tentatively scheduled for Jan. 23, 2013. They will be removing his skull & either "sanding" down the bony parts of his skull or taking bone from him & creating new skull. This will be the biggest surgery for Loudyn, it will require a 3-4 day hospital stay & there are lots of risks about the surgery, the biggest it seems will be him needing a blood transfusion. We have set up this website for everyone wanting to follow us thru this journey. We encourage everyone to send prayers & hugs his way...he will get a kick out of people talking about him when we read the messages to him!!
