On February 17, 2017, Lori was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. As it common for about 40% of those diagnosed with lung cancer, she had no symptoms until it had metastasized. The cruel irony is that Lori was never a smoker, never around those who smoked very much, and was diligent about wearing breathing protection in all sorts of situations. She was a "poster child" for how to minimize the risk of lung cancer, but through a random mutation, she has been afflicted.
