Dear Family and Friends,

My dad, Loren, had been having trouble walking since at least December... Anyone that knows him, knows that he doesn't complain.....and if we know he's been having trouble since December, that means he has REALLY been having trouble for a long time..... Looking back and getting more information from him, he has been having trouble with his neck, legs and hence, spine, for the last two years. So, we finally found out his spinal cord was severely compromised.

He had his first spinal surgery on his neck on Feb 16. The surgery was long but successful and dad recovered well. He still had much weakness in his extremities, and was scheduled for his second spinal surgery on Feb 22. That surgery was also long, but dad seemed to be recovering well. On Feb 23, dad was getting up with assistance and suffered a massive pulmonary embolism, followed by cardiac arrest. Luckily, dad had two staff members with him at the time, and CPR was administered immediately.

Dad is now in ICU at Methodist hospital. He is stable but in critical condition. Good news today: he is responding to us! He recognizes us, is following commands, and is moving his extremities. We are still following his clots closely- he has a large one and several small ones. However, he is in a great hospital, getting great care.

Please keep both dad and mom in your prayers. Dad recognized mom today and he smiled a BIG smile-
I know this was a hug from God 💕
