Lois Engelby

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, Stage 1 Grade 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  It was found on my yearly mammogram.  A reminder how important mammograms are in early detection.  I will be having surgery at Virginia Piper Breast Cancer Institute/Abbott Northwestern Hospital on Wednesday, May 31st .  The surgery will consists of a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph nodes removed.  If all goes according to the treatment plan (with the pathology report that comes back after surgery), radiation will start a month later for 3-6 weeks (to be determined).  I will be doing the radiation treatments at the Willmar Regional Cancer Center.  I will also begin a hormone therapy (1 pill a day for 5 years).  I appreciate all the prayers and support we have received from all of our family and friends.
