hello dear family and friends. i am writing my story to both help me keep my life story organized and to share my recent information in a concise and easy way for all of the many loved ones to learn what's up . i have felt so blessed and overwhelmed with the love i feel from all parts of our crazy little world and i honestly had no idea that i was loved so much. thank you for caring. this will be a great help to me since i cannot possible answer all the calls, texts and loving questions. yes, those of you who do not live in Hawaii  are all invited to Hawaii... i just need to keep a calendar so that our time together can be individual and meaningful.
first of all, i wish to say that i got out of the hospital on Thanksgiving day after a grueling week of tests...preceeded by a month of cough and upper abdominal pain that my primary care provider was treating me with cough medicine and an anti-reflux medication. needless to say, it wasn't either and the tests completed at the hospital showed advanced Cancer in the liver and lungs with the primary site the caecum ( where the large intestine meet the small intestine, next to the apprendix). just for the record, i went to my primary care physician a year and 1/2 ago with a feeling that i had in that area, but was sent to my ob-gyn for an ultrasound to rule out ovarian Ca. no questions or follow up were ever done. i will never know if my intuition felt the beginnings of something, but my hunch says yes. in any case, i have been home getting lots of calls, visits, setting up my paperwork ( ie. social security, temporary disability insurance, will, durable power of attorney, durable power of medical, setting up visits with friends who have already come in from the mainland and connecting with my medical oncologist. they say that  my port will be put in sometime this week followed by a first treatment of the protocol that i have yet to learn exactly what it is. just a sideline, i have had such support i am again overwhelmed...friends sleeping in the hospital with me, bruce by my side, friends taking me on my errands, having special walks in beautiful areas of Oahu, over for a meal, meditating with me and assuring me that they are there for me. i have a special group of what i call my medical team ( outside of the Queens Cancer Institude which is in partnership with MD Anderson in Houston) who have my medical records and have attacked them looking at alternative protocols, reseaching what is current standard of practice, offering suggestions and keeping me upbeat). boy , am i lucky. I feel so fortunate to know the best people in the world. in fact, i have prayers going on in India, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Uganda, Mexico, China, Canada, across the USA... with Christians, born again Christians, Jewish, Orthodox Jewish, aetheist, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim.. I think i'm covered. I am inviting my close circle to read and know that when I can call back , I will. I love you all and feel so much gratitude for all i have been given in life.
