On September 9, 2021, our mom experienced some odd symptoms that sent her to the ER. The doctor ordered an MRI which showed a tumor in the right parietal lobe of her brain. She was subsequently diagnosed with Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme - the most aggressive type of brain cancer. She underwent surgery that removed about 80% of the tumor. Next comes radiation and chemo that will hopefully give her about 12-18 more months to live. Due to deficits with movement and coordination resulting from her tumor removal, Mom requires 24/7 supervision that is not covered by insurance. Robyn cannot care for Mom alone, so we are moving Mom, Robyn, and Olivia (Robyn’s 9-yr-old daughter) to my house in Wisconsin. With the help of my family of four, we will all be working together to care for Mom and make the last part of her life safe and meaningful.
