As most of you know Liz has had a tough road the last few months and many of you are concerned about her and her family .  We have decided to start this CaringBridge page to help keep her many friends and family informed and to ease the phone calls for Bill.  We know that Liz would love hearing from all of you but she hasn't felt up to talking. This site will be a great way for you to give her your love and words of encouragement.

In September Liz had surgery for a ruptured colon.  The surgery went well and she spent  a couple of months to recouperate knowing that in December she would need another surgery to complete the issues she was having.  On December 15 th she had her second surgery.  As a result she spent three weeks in the hospital. She was released and went home for about two weeks but wasn't improving.   On Thursday,  January 18th they found an abscess  in her stomach.  She had another surgery but her condition quickly worsened and she was transferred to Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Friday the 19th. They did surgery on her that same night and found that she had two leakages caused from each of her previous two surgeries, causing  her body to be full of infection.  The doctors flushed her stomach and repaired the colon and cut out  7cm of her small intestine to rid her body from the leakage.  Since then she has had two more surgeries and another procedure to insert a tube to drain yet another abscess that has formed.  As of today her white blood count is elevated and they are attempting to find the correct antibiotic to combat the infection.

As any of us would be, Liz is very tired and her spirits are down.  For the time being her family  is requesting that only close family members come to visit as she just doesn't feel well enough to have visitors.  They are also very fearful of her contacting a germ that may jeopardize her in  a negative way.  Please continue to pray for her and send your positive thoughts either through this site or a card sent to Sanford Medical Center, 1305 W 18th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57117

A benefit fund has been established  Liz at the Dakotaland Federal Credit Union at 312 Dakota Ave. N., Huron, SD 57350.   A dinner, silent and live action is in the planning stages for March.
