Jeffrey Burke Smith Jr. was born on February 19th, 2017. He was having oxygen issues soon after birth and was thought to have pneumonia. After a week of tests and many ups and downs it was discovered that he has a heart defect called TAPVR. He was transferred to Children's Hospital and immediately had open heart surgery to try and repair his condition. Typically there is a good success rate for this type of surgery, but unfortunately, Jeffrey has had some complications. Currently he is in the CICU and on ECMO to try and strengthen his lungs and heart.
