Hello Everyone:

Lisa began this journey with what she believed was a pulled muscle in her back. She went to the doctor and was put on pain medications and told to rest and take it easy. Memorial Day weekend we were all down in Melcher, and Lisa was in so much pain that she was unable to eat with us and slept most of the day. After a few more days she finally went to the doctor again, this time they did an X-Ray where they noticed a shadow and made an appointment for further testing. Lisa's pain increased and instead of waiting for her appointment in Corning she and Todd decided to travel to Des Moines, as the pain was so severe, she was so bloated with fluid,  and she was unable to do much of anything. Sunday, June 5th she arrived at Mercy and went through a series of testing, where they discovered a mass on her right ovary and we were told at that time it could be cancer. They admitted her to the hospital and the next day did more testing finding a large mass, spots on her stomach wall, and spots on her liver,  and they drained the fluid (they took 12 pounds of fluid), they tested to fluid and test confirmed our worse fear, and as much as you prepare and have been told it was cancer you NEVER want to hear it! It is Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. June 7th - Lisa had a biopsy and a plan of action is in place to KICK CANCER'S ASS!! Lisa begins her first round of Chemo June 8th!
One thing I can not express more, and I am being honest when I say I can't put this in words and do it justice -  is that Lisa is in a good place and she knows, she understands, and she is more than ready to KICK CANCER'S ASS! She knows God is in charge and has turned it over to the one who has written all of our stories long before we were ever born. Her faith is beyond belief and with that kind of spirit how can we not KNOW she will beat this!  If you get a chance to visit with Lisa you too will understand her passion and will be filled with her positive attitude. Although this journey is going to be so hard on our family, and we are up for the hardest fight we have ever faced we take our lead from Lisa and she knows that HE will never leave her, NEVER and he has great plans for her! God has the wheel on this ride, we will all draw our strength from him!!
