Hi everyone! Michaela here! We decided to use this site as a way to keep everyone updated on my mom in one easy place. Since we have so many people that each of us have been calling/texting/sending updates to, this seemed like a good option.

On August 14, 2020, Lisa had a biopsy done after a suspicious spot came back in her mammogram results. On August 19, she went back to Bismarck for her biopsy results, where she found out that the spot was breast cancer. On a positive note, the lymph node that was also checked looked good. The next step was an MRI which was done on August 24, to get a better look at the lymph nodes and the rest of her chest.

My parents went back to Bismarck again on August 31, where Mom met with her doctors and a surgeon to go over a plan of action. With this type of cancer (HER2; Stage 2), they get the best outcome with chemo, surgery, and then radiation, so that’s the plan as of right now.

My mom, dad, sister, and I are so thankful for everyone who has checked in the last couple weeks. It’s been a lot but we’re lucky to have so much support.
