Hello Family and Friends! Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On November 28, 2016, I discovered a lump in my left breast. Within the 10 days that followed, I had seen my primary care Dr., got a mammogram and ultrasound, got a biopsy and got the results. I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It was also determined that I am triple negative. This means there was no estrogen, progesterone or HER2 hormones detected. They say this is a common type of breast cancer. Unfortunately, with being triple negative ( which is not as common) the chances of it reoccurring is higher. I have chosen Dr. Serephim Pallas as my Oncologist, he is affiliated with Karmanos-McLaren here is Clarkston and came highly recommended. The treatment plan is for me to have 4 sessions of Chemotherapy, one every two weeks, then 12 sessions, once a week for 12 weeks. This will shrink the tumor so it can be removed, and then I will have radiation. So far, this is the plan.
The t-shirt I am wearing in the picture is from my cousins Mark and Dawn on Christmas Eve. Not only did I get one, they also gifted my family members with one. All 27 of us took a photo together with of our shirts on. What an awesome way to start a journey like this. To have so much love and support right out of the gate makes me feel very lucky, hopeful and blessed.
I will continue to stay strong and positive and take it one day at a time!!
