Welcome to our CaringBridge website.
We are using it to keep family/friends updated in one place and greatly appreciate your support, prayers, love, and words of hope and encouragement.
In early October, what seemed like a bad chest cold and loss of voice were diagnosed as pneumonia. The symptoms never cleared-up and subsequent visits to the doctors have revealed Stage IV Lung Cancer, specifically Adenocarcinoma. Believe it or not, this type of lung cancer is not associated directly with smoking, however, clearly the smoking habit has not helped. Even though at Stage IV, the cancer has not yet spread outside of the lungs so we have hope and a fight.
Post biopsy, we will start on a weekly Chemotherapy for 2-months starting November 28, then re-scan and reassess. At the same time, tests for specific biomarkers are in progress to determine targeted treatments if Chemo fails.
As result of the cancer, the larynx has been affected and a full voice has been lost. It is not yet known if this condition will improve so apologies if you cannot speak with Lionel directly. You can leave messages and words of encouragement on this website and each one will be viewed and responded as soon as possible.
