I had an annual check up with my doctors in December. WhileI fully expected my cardiologist to sign me off for another year. He, instead, ordered more testing and then sat down with me to tell me I needed open heartsurgery soon. As he talked on about my diagnosis, I kept looking around to seeto whom he might be talking and heard little of what he said. It felt surreal.

The upshot is that I need an aortic valve replacementbecause it has been leaking for years and is now calcifying (I was born with atwo-leafed rather than the normal three-leafed aortic value). The valve hasalso now caused a severe aortic aneurysm, which also needs repairing. This is aroutine surgery these days for a very fixable problem, and I am so grateful itcan be done.

In speaking with my surgeon and with some close friends whohave gone through similar surgeries, I recognize that rest is paramount in theinitial stages of my recovery. Therefore, Morris and I are asking for novisitors and/or no telephone calls until we are ready. We will, of course, letyou know when that is, hopefully within a few weeks. We have created this siteto keep you updated. If there are any needs we have in the meantime, we willpost those as well. Please feel welcome to write in the guest book on this pageif you would like.

I would like you to know how appreciative I am for all ofyour thoughts, prayer, love energy.
