As many of you know our mom has Cancer. She had went into the ER on Thursday July 13, 2017 thinking she had a UTI that progressed or she thought possibly diabetes.  The UCD ER staff were great in caring for my mom. They treated her pain and started working her up trying to figure out what was wrong. They thought from her symptoms she might be septic, she might have a blood clot in her lungs.  But none of the things we all thought were the case, unfortunately.  To our horror she was told that night that she had cancer and it appeared to be in her colon, liver, kidney, lungs and bones. In fact, she had a bone fracture on her spine from the cancer. Saying  we were all shocked would be an understatement! What to do now? She was admitted into UCD hospital for 5 days to treat and manage her excruciating pain, ending that stay with a liver biopsy to confirm the cancer. My mom kept saying how she thought the staff and nurses were great.......So I sending a thank you out into the universe for everyone who helped care for my mom on her stay.  Also, thank you to all of our family and friends who were able to make to the hospital to show our mom love and support.  We know everyone's lives are busy and demanding so we deeply appreciate the visits.  Our moms journey and fight is just beginning. Of course we are all scared and want to support her and help her heal and get through this. Many family and friends have reached out asking what they can do to help. Everyone wants to know how she's doing and what's going on. The love and concern is greatly appreciated. I felt that a place where we can update those close and dear to us without having to contact everyone individually or replying to every call and text regarding our moms condition would be beneficial.  I was told about this site by my cousin Cindy, thank you. I think it is just what we need. People can send my mom messages of love, encouragement or whatever they feel in their hearts and she can read them herself.  And I will try my best to keep this updated with her plan of care and progress as we go along this JOURNEY TO BATTLE PAVED WITH LOVE.
