On the evening of December 20th, 2021, Linda Lake suffered a significant stroke.  Linda and David were out that evening, celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary, when Linda began showing signs of confusion.  Within minutes her confusion worsened and she started to slip in and out of consciousness.  David immediately got her out of the restaurant and took her to the ER.  That night the doctors discovered she had a burst blood vessel on her brain, which was causing swelling and was likely the cause of the stroke.  They were able to do an emergency procedure which put a tube in her skull that relieved the pressure.  While David and the doctors acted quickly, the stroke has caused Linda some long and short term memory loss, some loss of speech and vocabulary recall, and weakness on her right side.  Linda spent over a week in the ICU before being transferred to the physical therapy floor where she will remain until the doctors are satisfied she is ready to return home.  At that time, she will continue to receive in home therapy and rehabilitation.
