Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
On March 11th, Linda was taken to the emergency room at the direction of her PCP. Her white blood cell count was over 100k, which the doctor indicated was a sign of leukemia or other type of blood cancer. The ER diagnosed her with CLL.
On March 12th, she visited her new oncologist who ordered additional bloodwork, CT scans and a bone marrow biopsy. Due to scheduling, she could not get in for about a week to get these tests.
On March 16th, the oncologist called and ordered us to take Linda directly to the hospital. He said the new bloodwork showed that Linda has Mantle Cell Lymphoma, not CLL. Mantle Cell Lymphoma is considerably worse and required immediate treatment.
We arrived at the hospital about 2 hours later, and that night she had her CT scans.
March 17th! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Linda had her bone marrow biopsy done.
March 18th was a tough day for Linda. She had surgery to put her port in. She spent most of the day sleeping and received her first round of chemotherapy. She tolerated the chemotherapy very well.
March 19th! When I arrived at the hospital Linda was up, getting her hair washed and had already had breakfast. I talked to the doctor this morning and he said she is already showing improvement ❤
The doctor has not yet given a stage assignment because the bone marrow results are not yet complete. He said he will have a better idea when we see him later in the week.
Linda is in great spirits and is looking forward to getting home to see her dog and her grandson Cameron who lives with her.
