UPDATE: It has been 9 years and 2 weeks since Linda had a major stroke and we called on all our brave prayer warriors and dear friends and family to help us rally. Today is July 14, 2021, and mom was airlifted yesterday to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis for emergency care after suffering another hemorrhagic stroke. Updates in the journal postings. Thanks so much for your support, encouragement, thoughts, and prayers!

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Linda is recovering in the comfort of her home after suffering a hemmorhagic stroke on June 26. She is making good progress in recovering bits and pieces of speech and comprehension, and is doing remarkably well, physically. She has a long road of therapy ahead, and temporary adjustments. She is humbled and touched by the outpouring of love and support from friends and family. Thank you for caring!

Linda is a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She has a story that is larger than life! Here is the summarized version:Linda Pickett was born and raised in the hills of Putnam County, Missouri. She attended Blackbird School, and later Unionville School. A graduate of the Class of '63, Linda remains deeply tied and devoted to her classmates, Alma Mater, and "homeland." She finds tremendous joy in planning class reunions, and looks forward to those times when she can reconnect with old friends and classmates. She married Bob Banger in 1965 and together they created the happy and healthy empire that is the Banger Family. Inorder of seniority, Linda's children are Mike (Angie), Tim (Melody), Robbie (Laura), Jenny (Tim), and Bethany. Between all of her children, Linda is a grandmother nine times over.Linda has enjoyed a career in news, beginning as an unlikely housewife/newspaper owner/editor, transitioning to small town columnist, later to a correspondent for a large state circulated paper, and later still, the title of author. She greatly enjoys and identifies with her times spent in newsrooms and events and recounts all of her many friends and associates there. Since retiring South from Iowa to southern Missouri, Linda has participated in church and Red Hat social events, both of which have netted her some dear friends. Linda is a devoted daughter to her mother, and frequently travels to be near her mother.Linda enjoys being in her garden, taking road trips with her husband, writing and reading, and staying abreast of current news events.Linda is a most colorful personality! She has a quick wit, an irascible temper, and an ability to reduce the most complicated political concepts down to the most elemental-and often wittily twisted- terms. We love and cherish her for all of her accomplishments and for the love and sacrifices she has made for we-her children.
