Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in regard to Ms. Lillian.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Even though it says "Mitch and Therese's Story," this is very far from the truth.  This is our family's story, each and every one of us.  FYI, I did try to edit it, but no luck .

Approximately five weeks ago the matriarch and soul of our family, Lillian Kolleng, known to us as Moms (GiGi to our grandchildren) developed a nasty case of pneumonia and was taken to the Emergency Room at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola.  During her stay, she had a couple of other issues happen, but was eventually released to short-term health care right across the road at Olive Branch Health and Rehabilitation Center.  There, she was making limited progress, but unfortunately suffered a setback as her original pneumonia reoccurred.  As a precaution, she was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital and admitted helping to stabilize her.  After several days, she was released and transferred to De Luna Health and Rehabilitation Center.  There, her progress was better, but she yet again developed fluid on her lungs with altered mental status and dehydration, needing IV fluids.  The attending staff recommended that she be readmitted to Sacred Heart which is where she remains today.

This whole evolution has been an emotional roller coaster for the family.  If not for her daughters, Eva and Germaine, being there to to comfort and attend to her every need, our family would be lost. They have given without reservation to ensure that Moms is comfortable and loved. To them, we are eternally grateful.

Moms is a feisty 96 years young and was still getting speeding tickets until last year.  She has her spunk and love for life intact and shares the twinkle in her eye to all who come and visit with her.  Our goal is to "spring her" from the hospital/rehab cycle and get her to her new home in the country just south of Atlanta.  Here, family and friends can live with her or visit in a much more centrally located site.  She can rock on the porch and watch all her favorite Hallmark movies with an occasional intermission for a glimpse of Fox News.  Hopefully, we can get her driving again, and she can make friends with the traffic division of the Spalding County Sheriff's Department. :)

Again, thank you for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. We will do our best to keep everyone updated !!
