Michael O'Leary Life's A Gift

I just finished putting my golf clubs on my cart and I was looking forward to a fun round of golf when my cell phone rang.  It was my doctor with the results of my biopsy.  As he told me that I had cancer I could tell that this news was as hard for him to deliver as it was for me to receive.   I went and played my round of golf and he put an urgent call into the appropriate cancer clinic to get the ball rolling on building a plan to rid me of this horrible disease.

I’m starting my second bout against cancer.  During the first 6 months of 2017 I was treated for prostate cancer and I’m happy to say I won that battle.  Now I’m ready for the good fight against esophageal cancer.   The reality is that prostate cancer was a “cake walk” in comparison to the battle I’m facing against esophageal cancer, so I’ve decided to blog about this journey.   I know that writing will help me deal better with this journey and CaringBridge is a great way to keep friends and family who are interested in my journey informed.  So, let’s get started because tomorrow I won’t be able to write.   I’ll be trying to keep that damn open-backed gown closed so all the nurses don’t have to look at my butt.
