Julie Valencia Life on an island

First post: Aug 28, 2016 Latest post: Feb 12, 2017
I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 4 months after my 40th birthday. I had a left radical mastectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, and 33 radiation treatments.
In Aug of 2016 after suffering horrible back pain for months, I woke up one morning unable to walk. A trip to the ER confirmed that the cancer was back in my T spine, C spine, pelvic bones, and chest lymph nodes. I was now stage IV. After 3 months of on again off again hormone therapy, a battle with pneumonia, and a month of nausea, I felt intense pain in my ribs which warranted another trip to the ER. Nov, 2016, it was discovered the cancer had further progressed  to my ribs, sacrum, sternum , and other numerous bones. It's was also discovered I had broken ribs from the cancer. I completed 5 days of radiation treatment to the rib cage, and will continue on to the chemotherapy drug, Gemzar until it either shrinks the cancer, or we find its no longer working. Thank you for reading and following my journey.
