In early September 2016, Lester Dempsey went in for a heart cath and underwent a triple bypass instead at CAMC Memorial in Charleston WV. Unfortunately, his kidneys were not functioning properly so his recovery was delayed. In a 90-day period, he was in the hospital for 76 days to help his kidneys recover and for adjustment of his medication levels.

On Dec. 5, he finally headed home. Unfortunately, his cardiac rehab never fully kicked in, his fluid levels fluctuated, and meds were constantly being tweaked.

After two incidents of syncope (passing out) in early January, he suffered a broken jaw and a fractured fibula (the small bone between the knee and ankle). Lester was in HealthSouth Huntington for physical and cardiac rehab. He was transferred back to CAMC Memorial. On Feb. 14, he headed to Webster Nursing & Rehab in Cowen. Brenda, with Crystal in tow, will be heading home.

Family members have been helping as often as possible and paying for gas, meals, etc.

Any help you can provide from planning a visit to see Lester, sending a card, providing transportation for Brenda or spending the night so Crystal can get a break, donating to help with expenses, etc., is welcome.
