First post: Nov 23, 2018 Latest post: Dec 9, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Leslie was diagnosed in March 2018 with a blood disease known as myelodysplastic syndrome-MDS for short. It affects normal blood cell production in the bone marrow. In MDS, the bone marrow produces abnormal, immature blood cells called blast cells. These cells fail to mature properly and are unable to work properly.

Leslie begin outpatient treatment the following week. She received chemo for 7 days on and 21 days off for 8 months. In August she had a bone marrow extraction which showed her numbers had improved and made her an excellent candidate for a stem cell transplant. In October, she made the decision to have the stem cell transplant. She had over 30 identical matches in the international database and they narrowed it down to 2 and chose one. A young man, 42 years of age with her identical B+ blood type.  He lives in the continental United States. In one year she has the ability to meet him if he would like to meet her!

We look forward to updating and sharing her journey with you.... as well as receiving all your love and support!

Thank you.
