Leslie Abrahams Team Leslie

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Leslie in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Last week Leslie was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. It is the most common form of breast cancer. Her specific tumor is what the surgeon referred to as poorly differentiated- kind of a star shape- and to us why that matters is because it means it is aggressive. The cancer has also spread to surrounding lymph nodes on the same side as the tumor. Due to the size (being estimated between 3.5-5cm) and progression it was remomended to her that the whole breast and all lymph nodes be removed from at least one side, possibly both. Once she heals from surgery she will undergo both radiation and chemotherapy. The radiation to get any remaining cancer cells in the chest area and chemo to kill any cancer cells which could be in her body.
The timeline will move fairly quickly- she is meeting with different doctors over the next few weeks and they want to operate within the month.  Leslie is being showered with love and support for her and for Dillon. This site will be a place for us all to touch base, connect, reach out and coordinate ways we can support them during this season. She is very aware this will not be easy. She is also leaning heavy into the positives and seeing what could become beautiful in the middle of true difficulty.

It takes a village. So glad she has people who love her and Dillon around her.

Will be in touch. Please feel free to reach out,
