Lester Adlis Les Adlis

Lester Adlis was born on January 15, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois as the youngest of three children to Anton and Sophie Adlis.  While serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he met and married Dorothy Vlasek of Gonzalez, Texas.  After his military service, Les proudly spent his career as a member of the Human Spaceflight team at the NASA Johnson Space Center.  Les enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing and coaching baseball until disabled by multiple sclerosis. Les passed on March 6, 2017 at the age of 85 due to complications of heart failure.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Harold and Delores.  Les is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy, daughter Debbie Adlis Hillendahl and husband Carl, daughter Sharon Adlis and husband Harry Laswell, son David Adlis and wife Laura, and 10 grandchildren.

Les Adlis was incredibly proud to be a part of the Human Space Flight program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX from the early 1960s until the early 1990s when he had to retire because of his MS.  JSC has a Memorial Grove where loved ones can plant a tree in the honor of a former employee or contractor who served as a part of the NASA team .  The family will be purchasing a tree and memorial plaque in Les' honor to be planted on the JSC property.  If you would like to honor Les' memory with a contribution to this memorial tree fund, the family would be honored and will let you know when the tree dedication ceremony will take place in the late fall.
