Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On March 24, 2018, Mom (Leo) fell and received a laceration to her leg resulting in a trip by ambulance to the ER.  As many of you know, mom has had serious health issues for some time and her health has been failing for several months.  We moved her to the Weaverville, NC area approximately 1 year ago, in part, to be closer to medical facilities and services we knew she would need.   We built a new house, with a generational wing for mom, in which she has been very happy living with her beloved cat, Smoky.

We had been talking to the doctors about Hospice Services for a week or so, but this fall and injury resulted in her invoking Hospice on Sunday, March 25.  They have been a God send since she is steadily declining and now has a respiratory infection on top of her other health issues.  The nurses, doctors, and social worker have been on site, or on the phone, every time I have needed them. They are being a tremendous support to Mom and the whole family.

Although we do not know when, we are preparing for Mom's last chapter and trying to keep her in the home as long as possible.  I will attempt to keep you posted on her (our) journey and would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time.  Mom has had a wonderful, exciting life and hope she  rallies to have more.  She will turn 89 on April 25,2018.

Please feel free to leave messages, if you care to.  I will read them to her.
