Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Hello all! Leo is our youngest kiddo. He has been followed by a neurosurgeon since three. He had an instability in his neck that is common for folks who have Down syndrome. Over the last few years it has become worse, requiring a cervical fusion. They fused his occiput to c2. Basically, they put screws and a titanium rod to fuse the bottom of his skull through the top two vertebrae While it’s a petty hard surgery with a long recovery, he was at risk for spinal injury. He has been restricted from doing some of the things he loves. In the end, this will be good and he can ride a bike, do therapeutic horseback riding, swim and play team sports.
