Our son Len had a common cold with a really bad cough. He was put on a z-pack and prednisones. a week later he had neck pain. Thinking this pain was caused by his coughing he choose to ride it out. As the week went by the pain was worse in the morning and lessoned as the day went on. He thought this was a good sign and it was healing. On Saturday morning October 1, Len called me saying his test was over and had plans with a friend to watch the football game and go to Octoberfest. He then called me back saying he wasn't  feeling well. Then called again say he felt dizzy. I told him he needs to go to urgent care or the ER ASAP. We were thinking he had either clogged ears or vertigo. Len called me moments later and did not sound good his voice was off. Thank God his friend had returned from picking up  lunch and called 911.

They brought him to St Peters in Albany . His pressure was very high and after examine him the were leaning toward vertigo. They decided to keep him over night to do a routine MRI. Again, thank God they did. He had a stroke in the cerebellum. Everyone was shocked. He was speaking, walking. He pasted every test they gave him. They released him to me on Tuesday. I brought him home to have further test in NYC. Wednesday morning he woke complaining of tingling on his right side. I of coarse brought him to my local hospital (Lawrence Hospital) an affiliation of Columbia Presbyterian. After further test it was determined that his condition required more specialized care. He was moved to Columbia Presbyterian Neuro ICU. He has tears in two of his vertebral arteries and a blockage in the basilar artery. His condition is critical as the doctors have determined not to attempt repair surgically. He is under very strict parameters in order for him heal.

Saturday, while sitting in a chair he had a major set back. Which caused major weakness of his right side.

Tuesday and Wednesday were very encouraging. Finally, last night he sleep better he wasn't so restless and actually go some sleep.

Today for the first time he had PT. He sat up and stood with help. This is the best news we can ask for. His pressure is lower and still doing well. The doctors are all so happy within improvement. If he stays the same with no set back they may move him out of ICU in about a week.

Thank you everyone for all your prayers and well wishes. Please keep him in your prayers.
