Lee Levine

Hi all, we are using this CaringBridge website to keep family and friends updated in one place. If you have additional questions, you can reach out to Lee's sister, Joan, at her email: jkrussellart@gmail.com

Lee suffered a minor stroke on 8/16/22. He had surgery the next day to relieve the blockage in a vessel going up to his brain, which was believed to be responsible for the stroke. This procedure was unfortunately complicated by another, much larger, stroke involving the left side of his brain. He was rushed to a second surgery to place a stent to keep the vessel open.  Lee has been in the ICU since.  At this time, the deficits from his strokes are largely unknown as he has been heavily sedated and has a breathing tube in place. We know that the left side of his body moves spontaneously. He is able to follow some simple commands, like squeezing his doctor's hand when asked.  They will keep him sedated over the next few days, but afterwards they will decrease the sedation and do a more thorough assessment of the deficits from his strokes.

Lee has an incredible care team taking care of him at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. He is in great hands. All additional updates will be posted below as a journal entry. We will keep everyone updated as soon as we know more.   We don't have access to Lee's full list of family and friends, so please forward this onto anyone you know that is not in this list.
