Lee Janisch Lee Janisch's Journey

Welcome to my CaringBridge website.  I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

This summer I experienced shortness of breath and dizziness during the hot
humid weather. I had felt that way before when experiencing heart
problems so I went to my primary care doctor who suggested I see a
cardiologist. I did and was scheduled for a stress and heart
function test. While I am relieved my heart is fine they found a mass on my left breast during the imaging.

I then went to Virginia Piper Breast Cancer Institute where they did
mammograms, ultra-sounds and biopsies discovering I have bi-lateral
breast cancer. While I have cancer in both breasts they are not the
same cancer. Both in the lobes but not one cancer that spread .I
am scheduled for surgery 9-8 at Virginia Piper.  At this time I am not sure if it will be bi-lateral lumpectomies or
mastectomies.  I am under-going genetic testing to determine
which option will be best.  Also I've met with an
oncology radiologist since
if I have lumpectomies I will have 6 weeks of radiation which may
affect my heart.

I have a lymph node that looks suspicious and will be removed.

I am posting this to let my friends and family know what I am going through during this trying time. You may tell others about this site.

I appreciate healing energy sent my way.

If you have questions please let me know here and I will try to answer them.
