Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most. Leah, in embryo stage got a little skin cell in the wrong place. It ended up in at the base of her brain. Well that little bit of skin, over time had developed into an epidermoid tumor that was intimately involved with Boardwalk and Park place of the brain. It was discovered in 2001 and she has since had 4 surgeries to chip away at it to relieve some pressure that it put on the brain. If the tumor was fully removed it would never grow back. But because of how intertwined it is in important nerves and the brain stem the doctors can't remove all of it or we run the risk of leaving Leah with not much quality of life. Once the risk outweighs the reward they have to operate.
