Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. First I want to start by thanking everyone for their prayers, help, and support for us over the past few crazy and humbling days.
I’m not even sure where to begin! I guess to answer a lot of questions I’ll start from the beginning (but cliff notes version)
Tuesday morning Layton was riding his snowmobile to School when he had a freak (and that’s an understatement) accident- he was only going about 5 mph- front ski hit drift when he hit the handlebars also twisted and hit his stomach. He went to school and then complained about stomach hurting- we all thought just sore muscles- didn’t get better so I came and got him- when I did he threw up and I took him to ER in Crosby - from he went to Minot - and after a few days there and thinking we were coming home the next day the plan changed in a hurry - Thursday morning they did exploratory surgery- that turned into completely opening him up- to a flight to Mayo.
Layton has a 1 in a million kind of injury-complicated-
He tore his bile duct right where it attaches to the duodenum and damaged his pancreatic duct and pancreas. He had a tough 24 hours but Right now he is stable and doing good with 2 drains in his side and stomach tube. We are in great hands here and have several teams of doctors on his case.
