Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In early August, Larry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.  Unfortunately,  the cancer has spread to his bones, liver, and brain.  With the help and support of family, friends and Health East providers, Larry will be at home throughout his journey.

Larry Cohen has the unique achievement of holding the highest office in all three branches of local government here.  He was Mayor of St. Paul, the Chief Judge of the 2nd Judicial District Court and the Chair of the Ramsey County Board.  During his career as a lawyer and public official, Larry recognized and promoted the diversity of our region.  Among his many achievements Judge Cohen served on the Boards of the Urban League and the Tribal Court Committee; established the interpreter certification program for non-English speakers who were not well represented in the court system; and won the Peace Award by the Department of Corrections for Hmong Circles of Peace; he worked to establish the Circles of Peace and was instrumental in the promotion of restorative justice.   As Mayor, he was instrumental in the renovation and re-use of the Federal Courthouse, now known as Landmark Center as well as the establishment of the St. Paul District Council system.  Larry is a very social person and enjoys seeing and hearing from old friends and those whose lives he has impacted.
