I'm a wife, pet-sitting animal fanatic, bonus mom and grammy to six gorgeous grandchildren. On November 16, 2018 (my 55th birthday), I was preoperatively diagnosed with a form of breast cancer called DCIS (ductal carcinoma in-situ). DCIS is not an invasive cancer, and I've been reassured repeatedly that I will be fine. At this writing, I am awaiting a surgery date for double mastectomy with reconstruction. This will likely be in December of 2018. I won't know if further treatment will be necessary until the pathology report comes back post-op.
I have a strong faith in God. I know I'm facing some physical discomfort, but I also know it will pass. As time progresses, I'll post updates. Some of you have asked how you can help. I'll post some ideas in the "Ways to Help" section of this site as I think of things. But for now what I'd really like is your prayers. The pastor of my church tells us that God never wastes a hurt, so I'm confident God will use my experience to benefit others.
