Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In 2016, Laurie was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver as a result of a condition called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).  She was doing pretty well until spring of 2019, when she first developed fluid build-up in her abdomen which needed to be drained.  Then she was ok until early October, when she started to have changes in her mental status as a result of of her liver disease.  She and her husband Jim went to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville for evaluation for a liver transplant.  Unfortunately, she was not a candidate for that, and so she has now been taken home to hospice, where she is surrounded by her family and her beloved kitties.  She sleeps most of the day and is often confused, but always shares a loving smile with those around her when she is awake.
