A Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Co-worker, and soon to be a Cancer Survivor, Laurie Sandau can truly do it all. My family wanted to create a place for friends and loved ones to show support and stay updated as our superhero Mom overcomes life's newest obstacle. Over the past few weeks we have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support received from each and every one of you. My mom needs a full-time secretary just to keep up with all of your well-wishes, in her words the "most humbling of problems she ever thought she would face". It's no surprise she is receiving an outpouring of support, as she is the world's most compassionate caretaker, and now it's time for us to take care of her.
 
A few short weeks ago, our world was turned upside down when our Mom discovered a lump on her left breast. A trip to the doctor and subsequent biopsy confirmed everyone's fear, it was Stage II Breast Cancer, and our Mom was about to embark on the most important fight of her life. The word cancer takes your breath away and, if you let it, the shock can overcome you, but our brave Mom simply looked at her doctor and said, "Okay, so what's next? Let's fight this thing", and fight it she will. The first obstacle in her journey, Chemotherapy, will begin on August 24th and continue for the next 12 weeks. As the doses get higher and the treatment more aggressive, Mom is determined to continue living her life, caring for the children she loves, closing deals in the job that motivates her, and spending a little extra time with the people who give her the energy to fight each and every day. Throughout her journey, my Mom and family will do our best to keep everyone updated on her progress. As there are quite a few people cheering Laurie on, this site will serve as our first priority to make sure the team is updated and fighting right by her side! 

If you know my Mom, you know it doesn't take much to put a smile on her face. If I had a penny for every time she was touched by a sentimental card, homemade childhood art project, or a kind text message, I would be a millionaire. Everyone has been reaching out asking how to help, and I'm sure, as we start to take on this challenge, requests will arrive but the biggest thing we need right now are well wishes, prayers, and encouraging words for our brave Mom! In creating this site, there is an attached guest book for Laurie's Cheerleaders that she will have access to throughout her journey. Please let her know you are thinking about her, it will truly bring so much light into her life! 

We are all in this together, and together we are going to beat this! Thank you all in advance for your help, support, prayers and LOVE. We are the luckiest people in the world because of each and every one of you!
