On Friday February 24, 2017 my bride of 31 years Laurie had a very unexpected seizure at the medical office where she works. Laurie is the poster-child for living healthy - this just isn't supposed to happen. So ... is ... God... good? Laurie was seated at her desk doing charts when the seizure occurred and she had two doctors by her side within minutes. 2 hours later and she would have been in 8 lanes of GA 400 traffic driving home. God IS good. When I arrived to the ER there was a Neurologist there within minutes, checking on her. God IS good. We got the results of her CT within the next hour and discovered a mass on her brain, confirmed with an MRI later in the weekend. Life is upside down for us, forever changed, but we know we're in HIS arms. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by amazing friends and family and that Laurie has a dream-team network of Doctor-friends surrounding her.
That is where we are... Surgical retraction of the tumor occurred on March 15th, followed by several nights in the Neuro-CC unit. Finally home a few days later. Eventually we'll go to Shepherd Center for neurologist-cognitive testing and with God's grace, back to practicing medicine. The future will include MRIs 3-4 times a year, possible chemotherapy, and living each day with purpose. Of course we will continue to update as we coontinue our journey moving forward with our "new normal." Still many unknowns, were leaning hard into our Heavenly Father and are at peace knowing one thing for sure... GOD IS GOOD!!
