I was called back after a routine Mammogram. The Radiologist wanted to look at something she was not too concerned about in my left breast but wanted to be sure. She had more images taken and did a sonogram. It wasn’t until the sonogram that she became concerned.
A lymph node under my left arm was abnormally large. It had not shown up during the mammogram, and she had not felt it. She told me that I must have had an angel on my shoulder and was lucky to have found it. I had NO symptoms.
They did a biopsy of the left breast and lymph node. The breast biopsy was fine, but the lymph node had carcinoma of breast tissue origin. (triple negative) There was breast cancer hiding somewhere in my left breast.
She then referred me to a breast surgeon and oncologist with Baylor Scott and White.
