I am starting this information site to keep you informed of my current situation. I am supposed to have open heart surgery on January 9th to replace a mitral valve in my heart. I have had A-fib over the last two years and in October they discovered that there was a pretty serious leak in my heart valve. I have never had any operations in my life, so we are starting with the big one first. I have every expectation that everything will turn out perfectly fine. And I might become more active than I already am, so lookout! I have been told that I have one of the best doctors in the United States to perform this operation. And I also know that the technique and technology for this procedure has developed to a very High degree over the last 30 years. From my experience so far, they have been absolutely thorough in educating me as to the procedure and recovery process. My attitude is to submit completely, and not agonize over it. I embrace the attitude of gratitude and recognize how fortunate I am to be in this day and age of great medical advances. I ask for your prayers and good thoughts as I go through this.
