Laura Young

Thank you for visiting.  Laura is the unborn daughter of Peter and Tracy Young.  She is scheduled to be born on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Abbott Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis.   In September, 2018 we were informed that Tracy's ultrasound showed some kind of heart defect.  After testing and consulting with doctors at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, we learned that Laura has  Tetralogy of Fallot (teh-TRAL-uh-jee of fuh-LOW) is a rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth (congenital). These defects, which affect the structure of the heart, cause oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and to the rest of the body (resource Mayo Clinic).  The surgical team's primary concern is Laura's pulmonary stenosis and the hole in her heart. Upon birth Laura's breathing capability will be monitored.  Her breathing ability and weight gain will determine if she has heart surgery now or in 3-6 months.  We will post as soon as we can after she is born.  Gramma Donna
