My tongue became swollen and sore in July 2017 while I was seven months pregnant. My doctor thought I had canker sores and that it was just a strange pregnancy thing. Four months later, my tongue was not healing and it had sores along the right edge and had become quite painful. My dentist referred me to an oral surgeon who did a biopsy on my tongue. Two weeks later, I learned that I had cancer in my tongue. This was shocking news, especially since I don't fit into any risk categories for oral cancer.
