Laura Steen

Laura Steen is the beautiful wife of John Steen, and the loving mother of their four children Hailey (15), Owen (9), Molly (6), and Eryn (4), and yes, their initials spell HOME.  Laura is a military spouse of 19 years and has been the rock of her family through her husband's multiple deployments, field training exercises, and hectic Army schedule.  John was deployed to Afghanistan in May 2017 when Laura began having severe headaches.  Assuming the headaches were due to the stress of a husband at war and the needs of 4 children, she was not overly concerned with her symptoms.  Upon John's redeployment he noticed her condition was significant and took her to the local hospital to seek care. The doctors ran multiple tests to determine the source of the headaches, and within hours of her arrival to the hospital she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  She had surgery to remove the tumor within 48 hours and it turned out to be larger than a golf ball.  The following week she received the results from the pathology, and the diagnosis was not good.  The results revealed a particularly aggressive brain cancer that requires immediate treatment with a poor prognosis.  The Steen family are believers in Jesus Christ and rely on him as their source of strength and comfort during this difficult time.  The Steen family appreciates the love and support from friends and family as a global team of amazing people have rallied around their family.  The most common question they get is, "how can we help".  First and foremost they ask for your prayers as the Lord is faithful.  If you feel led to help in other ways then hopefully this site will provide an opportunity to let you, and the Steen family, be blessed by your generosity.
