Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've had quite the January and February 2016.  Laura was diagnosed with Stage 1C2 transitional cell ovarian cancer.  It was quite the surprise.  Really had had no symptoms.  We were in North Carolina looking for a retirement home that we will share with Laura's brother and sister-in-law.  So we got an up close look at medical care in Brevard and Asheville, NC.  Had a wonderful surgeon who performed 6 1/2 hours of surgery January 26.  Spent a week in the hospital and another week and a half in Asheville before traveling home.


Have found a doctor here in Northern VA who we really like.  Both NC and VA docs recommend 6 rounds of chemo.  Treatments will be every 21 days with Taxol and Carboplatin so it will take about 4 1/2 months to complete the 6 rounds.



We will try to keep the journal updated to keep you informed about the latest.  We so appreciate the love, support, encouragement and prayers we've received from family, neighbors, friends, and colleagues.  You make it easier to maintain a positive attitude and our sense of humor.


Oh, and we did put a contract on a house in Brevard, NC.
