Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your love and support.
After an initial diagnosis of severe anemea, Laura was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on March 28th at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg. AML is extremly aggressive, notoriously difficult to treat and has a poor prognosis even when treatment is able to be given. Laura's pathology showed no markers that would allow for even extention of life treatment. She was brought home on hospice care, where Tom, Heather and Colleen were all able to be with her and each other for the duration. Laura died April 5th at home.
If you know Laura, you know she has always been a care giver providing support to anyone who needed it. Being the recipient of care, however, has never been her strong suit. In typical Laura fashion, while she was still able, she did as much for herself and by herself as possible. Her care of others and her active participation and reach in her communities has led to a tremendous outpouring of support, for which we are all grateful.
It is difficult to manage separate communication with everyone we know who loves Laura and us so we ask, for now, that you leave your messages here on her care page rather than call or email individually. Your friendship means a great deal to all of us. Thank you.
