About Laura
Laura is a 37-year old daughter, sister, wife, and mother of three. She and her family are active member of Five Stones Church.  In addition to caring for Luke (12), Cody (7) and Theo (5), Laura works with her husband Josh at HodgePodge Custom builds, their small business. She loves spending time with her family and friends, watching Marvel and Harry Potter movies, gardening, and dying her hair funky colors.

Laura's Diagnosis
After some months of unusual headaches, short term memory loss and then blurry vision, Laura was diagnosed with a brain tumor on February 23, 2022. Through an amazing connection through her parent's (Ken and Anne) network, she was scheduled for an immediate craniotomy on February 28th. The neurosurgeon removed as much of Laura's tumor as he safely could without damaging her brain, and sent samples of the tumor to pathology for testing.

On March 10,  her pathology report came back; the results were very grave and disappointing.  It showed she has a grade 4 diffuse midline glioma, also called a glioblastoma. This is an aggressive, cancerous tumor, and while she will undergo radiation and chemotherapy to try to slow the growth, it is not curable.

Laura spent 15 nights recovering at Atrium Health CMC hospital and another 8 at an acute rehabilitation center in Rock Hill, SC to help her with mobility and cognition. Her short-term memory has been affected by the location of the tumor (on her hypothalamus). She completed 6 weeks of radiation and has had ongoing oral chemotherapy since March 2022.
