A rather interesting turn of events has led me to find out I have kidney cancer. To say this comes as a shock to a rather healthy 38 year old is an understatement. The emotions this diagnosis has brought are a whirlwind to say the least. At first glance, the tumor was in a complicated location and I was asked to rush to the hospital. Digesting the information and accepting surgery was a jolt life did not prepared me for. Thankfully. things have slowed down a bit and I am now accepting this unexpected reality. I am set to have surgery to remove the tumor and my kidney Friday, June 10, 2022 at Moffitt.

I debated whether to keep this private since my kids (especially my precious Gabriel) are on a need to know basis. All he knows is mom needs surgery. So please spare the little ones the details.Nonetheless, I’ve decided that we often struggle through challenging times only to later find out we were not alone and can actually help each other as some are  struggling in silence. Also, some things are just easier with the support of your friends and family. Don’t get me wrong this is a very vulnerable moment for me.

My desire is to open up and be brave enough to recognize the human condition and the fragility of life. Last week, I was worried about the stress and anxiety of planning a party and now my biggest desire is just to spend the day with my kids and continue to make memories. Life is truly precious and we earnestly don’t know how truly lucky we are to get to savor each day.

Lastly, I ask only a few things. First, let’s keep the mood positive and optimistic. My outlook is promising, no metastasis to the lungs or other organs! I need the universe to feel the positivity of everyone who knows me and has seen the strength and determination I’ve used to conquer this journey of life. This is the race I’ve physically been training for all these years 💪 I have faith that with God and my loving family here and in heaven, I will obtain a PR during this marathon. I will try to post updates to this site as developments arise. Please know that I love hearing from those near and far, so I thank you in advance who respond and reach out. If you’re local, I will try not to turn away a call, visit or a meal. No expectations regardless. Thanks to those who have already expressed their desire to be there for me especially my biological and chosen family in this difficult time.
