Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Hello all, never thought I would be setting up this account but we decided that this would be the best way to keep everyone informed. This is Cynthia and I will be updating information here. Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on Thursday February 9th at Mayo Clinic. He has been tired, sleeping a alot and not eating much. Mom took him to the ER in Rochester at the recommendation of their local doctor. He had some blood work and lots of tests that did not show anything abnormal. Dad insisted to the doctor that something was wrong and that doctor ordered a CT Scan with contrast and that is how they found the cancer. The scan also showed spots on his liver so he underwent a liver biopsy on Monday February 13th at Mayo. We went back on Friday February 17th to meet with oncology and to go over the results. The results were not good he has cancer on his liver as well. We meet with nurses and doctors and nurse practitioners. Dad was given a plan of having Chemo every two weeks and another scan in a couple of months to see if it was working. We will be going back tomorrow to Mayo in Rochester to have a port installed ( and as dad says not the type he can drink) He will have a CT Scan of his chest after the port is put in and he starts Chemo at 2:30 tomorrow February 20th. Tuesday dad meets with Genetics to see if he carries the GENE for this type of cancer. Curt and I and his brothers can be tested if he has it. Dad says he is a paratrooper and he is a fighter. We ask for prayers from everyone and please check this site for updates and please leave a message for them. It is hard and nobody knows what to say but just saying Hi is ok as well, Mom and Dad love to talk and appreciate the support but they need to get some rest. I will update soon.
