Thanks for checking in on Larry in Minnesota! We'll try to post updates but we're not exactly blog savvy.
Larry started this active Multiple Myeloma (cancer of plasma cells-) chapter in December 2016 with the diagnosis. Doctors agreed that a Stem Cell Transplant is the route to take. In January he started about 4 months of lower dose chemo to "kill off the weeds in his lawn." We were able to "spot treat his lawn" in Kansas. Now that they (weeds/bad plasma cells) are under control we needed to head to Mayo in Rochester MN for the next steps (BMT - Blood & Marrow Transplant). We would love to be at home in Kansas for this but it was not in our control. So after a full evaluation to determine if his body is strong enough to handle a transplant...we got the green light. He is in great shape ..."an absolute specimen", per Alex. Next they will help him "produce seeds to grow his new lawn"......... then, "harvest the seeds"........then, " nuke the lawn (a little bit of Round-up should do 😉 Jk).......then, "plant the seeds " .....and then wait until the seeds take hold in his bone marrow to start the production of new red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, etc.
