Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

July 3 is when this journey began. Larry went into the ER in Yankton with extreme pain in his abdomen.  In those first few weeks he was in the hospital in Yankton, and then in the hospital in Sioux Falls. He had his gallbladder removed, a stint put in, some stones removed, and ultimately they diagnosed him with pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is an awful disease that can come out of nowhere and can last however long that it would like! He tried to control it with diet at home, had several more times in and out of the hospital, but he was rapidly losing weight and in very rough shape with continual pain and nausea. They finally decided it was time for a feeding tube. They thought that a feeding tube going through his nose down directly into the intestine would give his pancreas a break! Not only does he have the pancreatitis, but he also has a pseudo cyst on the pancreas, fluid around it, and now there is an abscess, and an infection! The feeding tube has came out many times and the process of putting it in is absolutely awful!  Just recently Larry had 30 good hours at home, this was then followed by throwing up every hour, on the hour, for 18 hours! He has now been readmitted to McKennan in Sioux Falls. After much deliberation the doctors in Sioux Falls decided that he is best going to be served at the at the university of Minnesota in Minneapolis!  As of this morning there were no beds, but praise God a bed has opened up! He will be going there soon! There are so many of you who have been praying for both Joan and Larry during the last 2 1/2 months, they have been living a nightmare, but your prayers are carrying them through! Our God is carrying them through moment by moment!Today is September 15th. Last night when Joan was driving home from Sioux Falls she told me that she just couldn't keep everybody updated with what was going on. That is when I told her we needed a caring bridge site! She is now going to be able to update the site and be able to give everyone up-to-date information of exactly what is going on so you can continue your prayers. Please feel free to invite family and friends to join!  Please forgive me if I didn't get in some of this right, Joan can definitely give a better update later on his exact medical condition when they get settled! We love and appreciate all of you, thank you so much!
