Larry Scharnberger

My Dad passed, peacefully, early this morning. He is in a beautiful place now and we know he will be our angel.

------------------

In 2013 my Dad, Larry Scharnberger, was diagnosed with MDS - a rare blood disorder.  His symptoms were manageable for a while until it progressed to Leukemia.  It became evident at that time that the only course of action was a stem cell/bone marrow transplant.  True to character, he approached his transplant with courage and confidence . Although we dont know the name of his transplant match, we are eternally grateful for his selfless donation and giving the gift of hope, and life, to all of us.

Larry is still cancer free,  but he has been battling Graft Versus Host Disease, a transplant complication which is unpredictable and can range in time and severity. Unfortunately, over this past Summer the GVHD became chronic. He has fought for months and, on his own terms, has decided to stop the fight. He is at peace and ready for his next adventure.

He is currently surrounded by his family as we re-live memories, tell  funny stories, and list the many things we love about Larry.  We are reminded that he left an imprint on so many people's lives . His positive attitude, his sense of humor, and his ever-lasting patience are as evident now as they have been throughout his 73 years. The abundance of love and the outpouring of well wishes and prayers are giving his family strength and peace during this time.
