Hello! I will do my best to keep you all updated here. Some of you may know the background to my Dad's story, but I'll give a brief recap for those of you that don't. 8-9yrs ago Larry was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, at that point the tumor and cancer cells were contained within the prostate, so they zapped it with radiation and started him on hormone therapy. That kept it at bay with zero symptoms and very low PSA levels until late last year. Now jumping ahead to September 2016, at a routine test his PSA had risen just slightly and he had a Bone scan to check for any spreading. The bone scan was negative and it was recommended that he be rechecked in December. In December his PSA has risen a little more and another bone scan revealed that the cancer had metastasized to his bones. Lesions could be seen on his spinal cord, as well as many other bones spread throughout his body. He was set up with an Oncologist at the VA here in Sioux Falls, Dr Moy who recommended starting a pill treatment called Zytiga(Abiraterone Acetate), we also got an opinion from 2 other Oncology departments and doctors, and they all agreed on the course of treatment. Dr. Moy said he and his friend Marlene should go to his place in Texas for the rest of the Winter, enjoy the warmth, and come back to see him in May. I will now try to do Journal entries.
